AERO TECHNOLOGY QUIZ

Q1:

Hot weather lowers aerodynamic drag
a) True   b) False

True.
As temperature goes up, the density of air goes down and aero drag goes down.  In trying to set time trial records warmer temperatures create lower drag and faster times (as does higher altitude).  Unfortunately heat and altitude also effect rider performance, so a careful trade-off must be planned.  This effect is one reason why aero testing requires very very careful control of temperature.
